Car Accident

What should you do if IL driver becomes drowsy while driving

November 25, 2011

A large thanksgiving meal, holday shopping, long driving trips, lack of sleep can increase drowsy driving. Falling asleep behind the wheel can cause a serious car wreck and catastrophic injures and even death. The AAA reported on Novwmber 11, 2011, that almost 1/3 of drivers admitted to driving while drowsy between Oct 11, 2011 to Nov. 11, 2011.
Our IL Chicago car crash attorney remind holiday travelers to drive safely and only when it is safe to do so.

What if you are traveling on the road and become sleepy while driving?

Do find a safe place to stop,  Do not stop the shoulder of a busy street, tollway, or highway. When you find a rest stop, take a nap for 15 to 20 minutes.
Note, if you sleep longer than 20-minutes at the rest stop, it can make you feel even more tired for the intial 15-minutes after awakening. The inconvenience of not getting to your next destination is minimal when compared to driving sleepy, getting into a crash, seriously injuring someone or killing a family traveling this holiday.

Cullotta Law Offices wishes everyone safe travels this holiday season.
